Waffle
About the game and how to play
Waffle is a word puzzle in the spirit of Wordle, with a twist. Every letter is already on the waffle-shaped board — just scrambled. Swap letters to spell three words across and three words down. Colours give you hints and your number of swaps is limited. There is also a daily puzzle that is the same for everyone.

How to play
- Tap a tile, then another, to swap them.
- Green is the right spot, yellow is the right word but wrong spot, gray is neither.
- Every swap counts, so think before you move.
- Spell all six words before your swaps run out.
Tips
- Leave green tiles alone. They aren't locked, so swapping one away wastes a swap and costs you a correct letter.
- Look for two tiles that each belong in the other's square: one swap turns both green, and these double fixes are how you finish with swaps to spare.
- A yellow on a crossing square can belong to either the row word or the column word, but a yellow on any other square belongs to its one word only, so its home is one of that word's non-green squares.
- Work out whole words before you swap. With the greens fixed and the letters on the board, most words have only a few possible spellings, and gray tiles show which letters must leave that row or column entirely.
Frequently asked questions
How many swaps do I get in Waffle?
Each grid has its own limit: the swaps needed to unscramble it plus four spare, and never fewer than 10. The counter shows how many are left, and if it reaches zero the round is lost and the finished grid is shown.
Does using a hint cost a swap?
No. A hint makes one correct swap for you, moving a misplaced letter into its right square, without touching your swap count. You get two hints per round.
Is the Azerbaijani Waffle made of Azerbaijani words?
Yes. With the site in Azerbaijani, the grid is built from five-letter Azerbaijani words, including letters such as ə, ı, ö, ü, ç, ş and ğ; in English it uses English words. That is why the daily grid is different for each language.
When is a new daily Waffle grid available?
A new daily grid appears at midnight Baku time (UTC+4) and is the same for everyone playing in the same language. Missed days can be played from the archive, and Practice mode gives you a fresh grid whenever you want one.
