About the game and how to play
Klondike Solitaire is the world’s favourite single-player card game. The goal is to move every card onto four foundations, built by suit from ace to king. In the tableau you stack cards in descending order with alternating colours. Easy uses draw 1, medium and hard use draw 3, and there is a daily deal too.

How to play
- Pick a difficulty or open the daily deal.
- Build the tableau columns downwards, alternating red and black.
- Move aces to the foundations and build each one up by suit.
- You win once all cards are on the four foundations.
Tips
- Turn over face-down cards before anything else, starting with the tallest columns. Every hidden card you free opens up new moves and is worth 5 points.
- Only a King, or a run that starts with a King, can go into an empty column. Don't clear a column unless you have a King ready to move into it.
- Don't rush every card to the foundations: middle cards like 5s to 8s are often still needed in the tableau to hold lower cards of the opposite colour. You can pull a card back from a foundation, but it costs 15 points.
- In Draw Three the stock comes round in the same order on every pass, and each card you play from the waste changes which cards turn up next time. On Hard you only get 3 redeals, so plan your passes.
Frequently asked questions
Can every Klondike deal be won?
No. Deals are random shuffles, so some games can't be won from the start or become lost after a wrong move. When no card can reach a foundation any more, even through the stock, the game tells you and offers to undo the last move, start a new game or keep looking.
How is the Solitaire score calculated?
You earn 10 points for each card placed on a foundation, 5 for each card turned face up and 5 for playing a card from the waste to the tableau; moving a card back off a foundation costs 15 and each redeal costs 20. Winning in under 350 seconds adds a time bonus, and the total is multiplied by 1.5 on Medium and 2 on Hard. Hints cost 5, 15 or 25 points depending on difficulty, and undo costs 2 on Medium and 5 on Hard.
What is different between Easy, Medium and Hard?
Easy uses Draw One with unlimited redeals and hints, and undo is free. Medium switches to Draw Three with small hint and undo penalties and a ×1.5 score, while Hard allows only 3 redeals and 3 hints and doubles the score. You can also set Draw One or Draw Three yourself, separately from the difficulty.
When does the daily Solitaire deal change?
A new daily deal starts at midnight Baku time (UTC+4) and is the same layout for every player. It is always played with Medium rules, meaning Draw Three, and deals from the past 60 days can be replayed from the archive.
