Charades
About the game and how to play
Charades is the classic party game: one player acts out the word on screen using only gestures and expressions while the others try to guess it. Every round is timed, so you have to be quick. The phone deals the words and keeps the score for you.

How to play
- The actor sees the secret word on their phone.
- Act it out without speaking or making sounds.
- As soon as someone gets it, tap Guessed — the actor scores a point and the turn passes on; if time runs out, the word is skipped.
- The player with the most points wins.
Tips
- Guessers don’t see the category on screen, so open every turn with an agreed sign for it — cranking an old film camera for movies, for example.
- Don’t act out multi-word phrases word by word: play “Brushing teeth” or “Fishing” as one recognisable scene.
- Skip ends your turn with no point and passes to the next player — you don’t get a new word — so only use it when a word is truly impossible to act.
- As the host, end the game after a full rotation so everyone has acted the same number of times. Set the timer between 15 and 180 seconds: short for animals, longer for movies and actions.
Frequently asked questions
Who scores when a word is guessed?
The actor. Each turn is one word: when the group gets it, the actor taps Guessed and earns 1 point, while the guessers don’t score — so the leaderboard ranks the best performers.
What happens when the timer runs out in Charades?
The word is skipped automatically with no point, and the next player becomes the actor with a fresh word. If the actor gets stuck, the host can also tap Guessed or Skip.
Are movie titles translated in the Azerbaijani version?
No, movies keep their internationally known original titles, such as “Titanic” or “The Lion King”. Animals, actions and things are given in Azerbaijani.
Do guessers type their answers?
No, guesses are shouted out loud, so play in the same room or on a video call. Everyone joins from their own phone with the room code, and only the actor’s screen shows the word.
